Open Office Woes

Do your workers feel tired, worn out, stressed out? Maybe they are. Maybe it’s your office environment they can’t handle. Some people really don’t like open office environment. Here are some ways that they can learn to manage such problems. It’s a persistent issue, but it can be made better by being knowledgeable about it.

  • The whole aim of open offices is to encourage teamwork, but there are concerns about the lack of privacy, causing important business conversations to be limited and thus ineffective. You can help fix this by designating meeting spots that offer some sense of privacy for your workers – they will help bring more focus to the issue at hand and will limit the excess noise.

  • Sometimes it’s hard to stay focused on specific tasks because of constant disturbances. This can be a bother! Encourage your workers to specify a time frame in which they do not want to be disturbed by their colleagues. This will help them keep their minds on whatever it is they had set out to do.

  • Some workers find it so frustrating when they can barely tell the difference between a fellow coworker’s space and theirs. They can fix that issue by simply making their spot more personalized. Add things like a lamp, a small plant, a penholder, a picture – any or all of these will do.

  • Lastly, the noise is the biggest complaint! There are so many things that are happening in a large open office space at any given time of the day, which leads to lack of focus and frustration for some of your workers. What they can do is try to drown out the noise by focusing on things such as listening to music while working.
